The 2024.12.6613 update to Spawnpoint released on 5th December 2024 introduces full support for freeroam PCVR titles, starting with Rotten Apple by VRilliant Studios! If you haven't done so yet, please make sure you update your Spawnpoint install before proceeding.
If you'd like to start using our effortless PCVR support you'll need to add your PCs to your Spawnpoint install and enable a few settings - but once that's done, you'll be able to run Rotten Apple and other upcoming PCVR titles with incredible ease!
Prerequisites:
- VR-ready PCs, one per headset
- An LBE-ready headset such as the Pico 4 Enterprise, Pico 4 Ultra Enterprise, VIVE Focus 3 or VIVE Focus Vision
- Support for Meta Quest headsets is coming soon, please check the note at the bottom of this help article
- A streaming-ready network, ideally using the 6Ghz WiFi spectrum. Not sure what's needed for this? Feel free to reach out!
NOTE: This guide assumes you have already setup your headsets in Spawnpoint. If not, you'll need to visit our Onboarding Guide first.
Enabling PCVR Support
As Spawnpoint has historically been a platform for standalone content, support for PCVR is tucked away behind a few buttons so that users that it's out of the way for those operators that don't need it.
1. Access your Spawnpoint Operator Interface
2. Go to the Devices page
3. Click the Settings Cog on any headset in your device list
4. Go to the "+" (Addons) tab and enable the PCVR Streaming Addon
5. Click away from the Device Settings window, then click the Add Devices button and select Add PC
6. Download the Spawnpoint Windows Agent and install it on each of your VR-ready PCs.
Make a note of your uniquely-generated pairing code, as you will need it after you install the agent on each PC.
If your PC does not appear in the list after entering the pairing code, try using the "Pair Using IP Address" option and entering the IP of your Spawnpoint Operator PC.
7. Once you've added your PCs to Spawnpoint, click away from the Add New PC window and go into the Device Settings Window for each headset
8. Go to the PCVR Streaming tab, enable Auto-Manage Streaming App and assign a headset to each of your PCs and select your streaming app from the dropdown.
Currently Spawnpoint only supports VIVE Business Streaming for HTC VIVE Focus headsets, and Pico Business Streaming for Pico Enterprise headsets.
9. Finally, once you've assigned each headset to a PC, go to your Games tab. You will now have access to PCVR titles such as Rotten Apple, which can be downloaded and deployed to your PCs.
10. You can now launch Rotten Apple the same way you launch any other game on Spawnpoint: by creating a session, add your PC-linked headsets to the session, and selecting Rotten Apple as the game to launch.
11. Sit back, and enjoy Effortless PCVR Freeroam with Spawnpoint!
A Note for Meta Quest Users
Don't worry, we're working on something for you too!
If you'd like to try the experimental support for Virtual Desktop and Steam Link, enable the Advanced Settings option on the Settings page of Spawnpoint. This will allow you to select either of those apps as your streaming app, however you will need to manually establish the connection between headset and PC within the app initially as we cannot auto-manage these apps.
Our PCVR games do not have support for our Quest Calibration system, but we're working on something especially for Quest users to help with this so stay tuned!
